what should we call memorial day

Like the rest of the internet, I like the #whatshouldwecallme site.

a lot.

As an ode to my love for the site, and an ode to the giant pimple growing under my nose, I wanted to make my own.

Summer Reading List

Given the fact that it recently took me 6 months to read The Help cover to cover, I want to set some ground rules for myself this Summer. By ground rules, I mean one rule.

Read more than one book within a 6 month time period.

It hasn’t always taken me that long to read books. In fact, I used to be quite the flipper of hand-held literature back in my grammar school days.

However, now that Pizza Hut and Six Flags incentives aren’t there to motivate me anymore, its become more difficult to flip pages (and much easier to flip channels.)

I hold my reality TV obsession fully accountable for my inability to read The Help at a rate faster than 2 pages per night.

So here’s the list of books I want to read this Summer:

*this list is in no order of importance, except that the ones I list first came to my head first, so they’re most likely a bit more important

1. Mindy Kaling’s Is Everyone Hanging out Without Me

2. Tina Fey’s Bossypants

3. Jenny Lawson’s Let’s Pretend This Never Happened

4. E L James’ Shades of Grey

5. George R.R. Martin’s A Game of Thrones

*I also feel that reading 5 books this summer will somehow get me a step closer to my newest life goal: becoming Lena Dunham.

More on that later

I just entered Kate Spade’s Pinterest contest for two reasons.

1. I really want this Vespa.

I wanna win this Vespa, so help a sista out and like a pin on my board so maybe these beautiful people will take more notice?

zoom zoom.

For those of you who are just as interested as Pinterest and brand contests as I am, here are the contest additional details.

Instagram’s Now on Android

Instagram is now available on Android, and all I can think to do is create an “All my life, I’ve waited for an app like you” re-mix to KC & JoJo.

& filter everything.

Notes about a #cmmeetup that reminded me why I need to keep going to more Meetups

I joined the #cmmeetup group a  little over a year ago, and my key takeaway from attending this week’s meetup, was that I really need to keep going to more Meetups.

The panelists @jasonkeath (Social Fresh), @joeciarallo (Buddy Media), @matthewknell (AOL). Each of them had a unique, but equally as informative, take on the subject of Timeline for Brands, and touched on the undeniable value in Community Managers & creating engaging content.

And that was a run-on sentance, but I wanted every part to stay in there, so I’m keeping it.

Two brands they mentioned who converted to Timeline, and were using the new format very well were Red Bull & the City of New York. They specifically called out the City of New York’s  #loveNYC contest, which is awesome.

Additionally, I learned about two sites I’ll definitely be using from now on: start.io & follower wonk

That’s all for now.

But, like I said in the title of this, these were just my notes that reminded me why I need to keep going to more of these.

Pinerly: A dashboard that helps you organize your Pinterest -

Just signed up for this. Their “about me” section sums them up pretty well.

When a group of passionate, hard-working, and ambitious people come together, beautiful things happen. We founded Pinerly because using Pinterest gave us a huge boost in traffic (at some point over 30%) and we wanted to empower brands and users by helping them do the same.

The team takes criticism positively (so reach out), loves to learn (so challenge us!), and acknowledges that our goal is to create products that we are proud of and love. We are always within reach and available to help.

Pinerly is not affiliated with Pinterest, but we do love them very much =)

Looks simple enough, and my Pinterest feed has gotten pretty frustrating lately, so this has a lot of potential.

Anyone else using Pinerly or a similar service?
